Weather in Agra
Agra has a tropical climate with extremes of temperature. Summer (April-June) is very hot with temperatures in Agra sometimes peaking at 45 º C. Winter (December-February) is very cold and sometimes foggy. During the monsoon season (July-September), Agra receives heavy rainfall, resulting in high humidity. Summer can last for as long as four months in some years. The period after the monsoons is rather sticky and uncomfortable. Towards the end of October, evenings turn pleasant.
The best time to visit Agra would be during the months when it is neither too hot nor too cold. The peak summer months of May and June are not recommended for travel, as the heat makes getting around extremely tiring and risky. Even locals do not venture outside at this time of the year. Post monsoon, the high humidity can be rather trying. During the warm months, it is best to wear thin, loose cotton clothes. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. In comparison, winter poses fewer problems. Days are cool and sunny, ideal for taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Foggy conditions sometimes develop during late December and January and can play havoc with travel plans. The clear, cool nights of February are the best time for viewing the Taj Mahal.
